Text Box: John Bernard Bourne

A Suite of Poems

Night Entering Alberta

contemplating the yukon

but the drive seemed so oppressive

lost

somewhere outside of hope

and the mountains

it’s not bad

sleeping on the side of the road

listening to the trucks

ply the trans-canada

going somewhere

I’d like to be

it's always in that moment

between night and dawn

a few moments of tranquility

then the RCMP knock on the window

and tell me to move along.
