Phantom Train

I’ve never travelled

         northern Ontario

         during daylight

I've sung about the stars

         the loneliness

         of the night

         in strange places

It was on a train

         I heard stories

         of the past, reciprocating

         desire, events to

         change colours, shed skin

I've never seen

         north ontario

         just heard whispers, echoes

         as I passed through

            everyone else

            still sleeping.
