Shawn Drake is a history buff who loves to take pictures of local landmarks. This is a photo from an 2006 visit to Fairy Lake in Acton, which was previously known as Big Pond (the namesake for our Zine). He managed to catch this picture of a sparrow imitating a dragonfly (or an angel) as it hovered over the pond. He is seen here with his adoring cat, Pooh Bear, who would snuggle under his skin if he could. |

Tom submitted a poem and a photograph to us after visiting British Columbia, B.C., Canada. The poem, his first publication, appeared in our Summer 2007 issue. That’s not bad, Tom… two separate publications out of one submission to Big Pond Rumour. It is our hope that you keep traveling, if that is what spurs your creativity! |

Melusina Albanian Mythology |
|
This painting is by an unknown artist and represents Melusina, who was cursed to turn into a serpent from the waist down every Saturday. No man was allowed to see her in this condition. She searched the Black Forest and finally found Raymond in Colombiers, near Poitou. She had been asked to reign by the locals and built him a separate castle to assist in the conditions of their marriage but their children were all born deformed and having peeked at her on a Saturday Raymond banished her for contaminating his race. |
