First edition; no cloth issue. 12mo - over 6¾" - 7¾" tall. 158 pp. Tough title to find by an important Canadian author, only five copies on the web as of 03.07. By the author of 'Cabbagetown', this is a portrait of Toronto, through people from the Yonge and Queen Street area during the 40s and 50s. A good copy. Considerable wear to spine but binding intact and pliable, so entirely readable. Text papers not too embrowned. Water-stain to top edge & upper margin of front cover as well as first few leaves of text. Very scarce, approaching rarity.

Beddoe; Interior Drawings By Bernadette Gomery First Edition. 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall. 333 pp. A solid very good copy, hinges and binding strong, light wear to cover edges and corners, light soil to the handsome blockprinted front cover illustration. Decorative end-papers in red and black use repeated motif of thunder-bird and wolf. Legend on dedication page is: 'To all wayfaring motorist who risk "the slings and arrows of outrageous fortune". An attractive copy of the book with crown of spine a bit crumpled and two old peacock-blue ink spots (1/2" diameter) to bottom edge and top edge pp. but not unsightly. Vintage motoring along coast highways of Canada and the U.S. Quite scarce.

First Edition. quarto. 64 pp. 54 plates and brief introduction by Harper. Stiff wrappers on finely-textured paper in a pictorial dust jacket. Donovan's work from his Alexandria, Ontario shop between 1902 and 1921. Some examples: two girl children with their life-size doll-baby, the cyclist with his wheel, the hockey player in period shinny attire, family groupings stiff with the momentous occasion of picture- taking, ancients and newborns, groups and individuals. A beautiful collection offering a window on life in turn of the century Canada. Bright copy in unworn dust-jacket with just a few almost-invisible traces of soiling. Not common.
